Residential Case Study

Homeowners in Corozal Puerto Rico looked to Remora to provide a solution to improve their houses’ water filtration systems. The houses’ water system was created by them since this rural area does not receive water from the Puerto Rico Aqueducts and Sewer Authority. The houses were not receiving clean nor potable water to use because the water systems did not have a proper filtration system to make that water safe for consumption. They needed an adaptable water filtration system to use in their houses and make water safe for use and consumption.

Remora team visited and assessed the water filtration needs of each house. Remora sourced different water filtration methods based on our products and the water testing results of each house. We installed Remora’s 3-stage Super Capacity Water Filtration System that allows each house to filter over 300 gallons per day. This system is guaranteed to remove all pollutants found in Corozal’s water: dust, particles, chlorine, tastes, odors, VOCs, cloudiness, and chemicals.

Remora helped these houses to be more water-efficient using a system that is earth-friendly and there is no wasted water. This system does not waste water or require regular filter flushing, so all the water that enters the system goes directly to your daily usage. Now, these houses also have lower costs related to their water. Our system includes three high-capacity filters that last 12+ months for fewer filter changes and higher performance.

Social impact study

Remora provides the most efficient water filtration technologies to tackle most residential and commercial water issues but Remora is also committed to ending the water crisis worldwide. Our goal through our long-term water filtration devices is to provide clean and potable water to communities that do not have a source of water for their everyday lives and basic human needs.

The Los Guardias community in Corozal was suffering from a lack of drinking water access. Our team visited the community and assessed their water needs. These communities have poor aqueduct infrastructure that was heavily damaged by Hurricane Maria in 2017 and make them suffer from a shortage of drinking water for months. The community main issue alongside clean water access was the amount of money spent related to alternative drinking water solutions. They spent over $100,000 on average yearly to have water in their houses.

The Remora team installed a system that merges multiple water filtration technologies and filters small debris, chemicals and biohazards from their nearby river to provide clean water to the community powered by solar energy. The team also established an educational program focused on safe water practices.

Due to our work with the community, we provided 12,500 individuals with access to potable water, 24.6 millions of water filtered for human consumption and 60% reduction of costs related to alternative drinking water solutions.
